Hi there,

when starting my 110 (1987 2.5 N/A diesel ex military) I have the following issue.

1. Turn key and hold on glow plug warm for a few seconds, then turn to start. Engine turns once, then makes a squealing sound and wont turn anymore.

2. Repeat - same thing on second try.

3. On third try engine fires up and Landy drives normally.

This problem started a couple of weeks ago and initially was just in the mornings. Now, it is every time you start even if she's just been running and the engine is warm. I have tried two batteries and they give the same result (although neither are new, they could both be weak). Could this be time for a new starter, or possibly something inside the engine itself?? Thanks..

Possibly the starter solenoid isn't working correctly and not throwing the dog gear in.
Try and post a video up of the noise.
