Hi guys,

About a week ago my clutch started being weird, i had to push my foot really far down on the clutch before the drive to the wheels stopped, kinda expected my clutch was about to go (plates) then a couple of days ago it went completely, couldn't get it into gear as hard as i pressed on the clutch. Anyway so i went and got a clutch plate kit ordered, but today i went out and had another look at it, putting my foot on the clutch lots it feels like it should do, but you can hear it working quite a loud squeak i guess. Anyway so i thought id try bleeding the slave, couldnt' really see if any bubbles came out as it was dark outside and working by torch. anyway so got back in the landy, started her up, and couldnt quite get her in gear but she was much closer as she started to roll when pushed against the gear and she will go into reverse with a crunch. once in gear the clutch does make a difference to the speed and goes to the bottom and will pretty much stop the landy. There is no smell from the clutch atall so im thinking slave cylinder? A couple of months back when doing some work to the landy the slave cylinder pung apart so ive always wondered wether i lost a ball bearing to it or something which means it doesnt travel far enough now?
Thanks alot

Edd

I had a similar problem. We bled the system, but first put a 9mm cartridge case on the slave end of the push rod. Just gave it that little bit more travel. Apparently a penny in the slave cylinder will do a similar job.
