HI all, I am new to land rovers and have bought a defender 110 with a 130 tipper body on it. I would like to get the gross weight increased to 3500kg like the 130's so I can carry a bit more weight, just wondered how to go about it. do you have any idea?

I think your getting confused with gross vehicle weight and maximum towing weight.

gross vehicle weight for a 110 is 3,500 kgs minimum dry weight 1,894 kgs pay load 1,516 kgs

gross vehicle weight for a 130 is 3,380 kgs minimum dry weight 2,137 kgs pay load 1,243 kgs

130 tipper payload 1,200kgs.

The only way your going to get a higher payload is by putting an extra axle in ...... I think ;)

So a 110 has a higher payload than a 130?! Outstanding!!

dont get confused between the legal payload (max gross weight minus weight of vehicle) and what it is actually capable of carrying.

if your 110 has heavier non standard bodywork its legal payload is reduced so you dont exceed the max gross weight when loaded

a few months ago i brought a 08 hcpu. i looked into weights as it was important to me.
alot of people confuse the towing capacity and GVW. a standard 110 hcup has a total loaded weight of 3005kg or around that. you can get a rear axel and springs from the 130 spec'ed from new which gives the 110 a loaded gross weight of 3500 and a towing weight of 3500 too!
