I'm thinking of making a bike rack to hang on the back of my Defender.

I'm probly gonna end up having it bolted to the towbar etc, but out of interest how much more weight can the rear door suport with the spare on the back. Cos it would be easy to hang something over the spare.

ah think the rear doors have enough problems with the weight of the spare without puutin more weight on it

Wouldnt do it unless the spare has been moved to a wheel carrier seperate from door, that way the bike rack will move out the way so you can open the door.

Slobs right most Safari doors end up knackered due to the spare whhel alone. (With Time)

Cheers Guys, might have to have a think about this then.

Might make something that puts the weight on the towbar then. Simple enough.
