seems to only go up to 6 cylinders. I wonder if it would run a p76 motor though? :D

would you re-jet/needle them for the bigger engine stu? I expect su's would need differnt needles to make the most of it

su are better for performace but you do have to tune tem often- that isnt very difficult once you get the hang of it though. the strombers have a diaphram in them which splits and you have to keep changing. off road they are both as good as each other as they work at all angles. Ive done some funny angles on my hif6's without problems

The thing I like about SUs is that there is a cornucopia of different needles available and more or less everything in spare parts to rebuild them. They are cheaply available from Ebay.My V8 Landy has HIF6s with BAK needles.

i only really like the strombergs and find they are the only carbs that can be left alone once set up yes the diagphams fail but for the cost change evry two years and no issues.
i have a carb guy near me who is a stromberg wizard and does all my carbs

I remember reading that the only reason LR went with strombergs not SU's was because SU's were so popular they couldnt meet demand for the range rover at the time.

If you look at the value of strombergs now they have none wheras the value of SU HIF6 thats totally fooked is still £70 to a re-builder.

I have a spare pair of each as you know stu, came with the cars

I have to say though , if you have to take the carbs off to change the diaphrams on the strombergs that is a right pain in the balls I am glad to be without

No four screw on the top 20 min to do both going at a slow easy rate very simple job even you could do it lol

dont push your luck stu, I have had to RE-do plenty, I can get in to it on here if you like????

But good to know they are easy to do with the carb on, I noticed they are only 99p at padocks although probably ****part
