Well

That's the chassis finished

Vedirct between Waxoyl and Ankor Wax

Ankor Wax far easier to use - 4 litres used to do inside the box sections and rear cross member

Verdict between the Sealey replaceable nozzle gun and the ebay one in the earlier post.

Sealey one is easier to clean up, the ebay one seems to deliver a higher volume of ankor wax, and starts to flow quicker and easier down the injector tube.

Both have their uses, but used the ebay one far more than the Sealey one this morning.

If interested, this is the seller I bought from:

Schutz Spray Gun 626 Stonechip Shutz Waxoyl Wax Oil | eBay UK

Many thanks SH ... Ankor Wax looks good and the cheapest place I've seen it is at a store in Bridgenorth and I drive through it regularly. Do you know if I can Ankor Wax straight over existing Waxoyl as I've just found out that my mate who fitted my 1/4 chassis Waxoyled the whole chassis and not just the new section ... result! :D You can't really tell though when it's dried and been on through the winter so I would like to be doubly sure.
I'd still like to use the Ankor Wax though as it does look the business.

Honest answer Andy is I'm not 100% sure

Waxoyl is white spirit based, Ankor Wax is petroleum based.

Instinct is it should be fine - the two might run/mix together (but think you'd need a really thick coat of Ankor for that to happen, judging by how resistant to becoming a liquid the remaining waxoyl in my schutz tin was this morning when I added a glug of white spirit to try and get it out!) and then dry. Can't see any chemical reaction that would cause problems.

Guess the manufacturer could advise if you wanted to be 100%, but I'd not be worried - on an old Landy there's bound to be all sorts of remaining things on the chassis!

Good point ;)
Well 5l tin of Ankor Wax is £24 at the place I found but I guess you need a 1l tin too as a refill to attach the gun to. So, Ankor Wax it will be but not as urgent as I thought.
On a different note I have a friend with a 300tdi Def just round the corner who'd put it up on axle stands at the back and was carrying out a rear 1/4 chassis with his wife. He looked at me and said 'Andy, you'll be doing this soon so stop smiling' ... how I laughed even louder when I enjoyed telling him I did mine 6 months ago :D:D

Yep - I just bought a cheap 1 litre schutz can of waxoyl of ebay, used it over the winter, cleaned it out with white spirit and then refilled with Ankor Wax.

Must be good having a chum aroudn the corner with something similar to compare notes on!

Funnily enough he's not really a Land Rover enthusiast, he's had the 300tdi from new and he just has it to use for going fishing! No extras on it, just a 4x4 to him
Get all my Landy chat on here, give him the odd tip and he just wonders how I seem to know everything ;)

Paul has just completed the Waxoyling of my new PUMA.
He did a great Job and is a knowledgeable guy.
He gets and A1 rating from me!

Not sure why everyone seems to get all "cheaper to do it yourself" over waxoyling :confused::confused:

I went to see him at BnA, Rustmaster and a guy who did it as and when customers asked in his garage.

I can say the two professionals had superior steam cleaning machines and they can even get them dry again, that includes washing inside the rails!!!

I wouldn't get squeamish at £450 for the service you would be getting, I did 5 trucks in the past, one job I hate more than vehicle electrics!!!

But hey it depends on what your outlook is.
