Users are deserting forums in droves to go to facebook where you can see exactly who is posting. Very little (if any) score settling, point settling and deliberate, malicious libel on facebook.

It is easy to be on FaceFeck and be someone you are not .... there are many, I am one ...

its never your fault, its allways someone elses agenda, weve seen the pics
The bottom line is a) I don't claim to be perfect (but I am always striving to improve) and b) if there is a problem I rectify it to the customer's satisfaction and I make this a contractual obligation on my part.
If you don't like my terms and conditions, why come to me?

i think its the big expensive ads

Your business model is based on "yellow jounalism"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_journalism:
"Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering or sensationalism. By extension, the term yellow journalism is used today as a pejorative to decry any journalism that treats news in an unprofessional or unethical fashion."

People can have all kinds of agendas for posting negative things about my business, For example, many people who post on Land Rover forums are actually in the trade and may do rustproofing themselves and see me as a threat to be eliminated. What was Big Jimmy's motivation for making the absurd claim that he drove 1,000 miles to his home in France straight after my rustproofing to find his brake discs and pads covered in waxoyl? An impossibility as the first couple of dabs of the brakes would a) reveal the contamination and b) burn off any waxoyl. How could he drive 1,000 miles without noticing anything wrong with his brakes? The thread this appeared on popped up just under the google research page for my business and was used to drive my customers to the landrovernet forum for two years - doing incredible damage to my reputation and business. When I finally went toe to toe with Big Jimmy on landrovernet and exposed how ridiculous his claim was, the thread was removed and the forum folded soon afterwards. What exactly was Big Jimmy's motivation? Was it pure spite and malice? Or was he being paid by a competitor of mine to spew his bile. Maybe Rustmaster?

Now, a similar scandal mongering thread authored by Smithy has appeared under the google research page for my business, designed to drive my customers onto this moribund site in order to sell advertising. Who is Smithy exactly? If we knew we might know what his agenda is.

Defender 2, and Disco 3 were set up at exactly the same time as Rustmaster was founded by an advertising man who had been made redundant. Is this coincidence?
I once (several years ago) received an email from a guy who was a "regular" on Defender 2, who had posted a complaint about Rustmaster on the forum and the post had been immediately removed. I wish I had kept this email. The chief purpose of Defender 2 these days seems to be to promote the business of their acknowledged supporter, the Dinitrol guru. Do you think any complaints about his business would not be immediately deleted? By the way, if you look as assiduously for complaints about Rustmaster as you do for complaints about me, you will find some, in the same way as there was a complaint on landyzone about Defender2' Dinitrol guru.

The problem with your business model Blue Beasty, is that your members post under a cloak of anonymity. In the US of the 20's and 30's, people became sick of all the lies and scandal mongering of the yellow press and it died out when proper newspapers who reported objectively came along. Users are deserting forums in droves to go to facebook where you can see exactly who is posting. Very little (if any) score settling, point settling and deliberate, malicious libel on facebook.

Get your tanks off my lawn!

By the way, here is a really nice forum: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/before-n-after-co-uk-rustproofing-anybody-used-them.24226/
Really nice atmosphere! Lots of self-deprecating humour.

This is not my business.

In my business I don't try to tarnish the reputation of customers that aren't happy. I try to resolve it as amicably as possible.

It helps that I actually try and do the best job I can and if I've obviously messed up I'll put my hands up to it.

I don't spend a fortune advertising, in fact I don't advertise at all and I certainly don't try and promote my business where it's inappropriate and unwelcome.

So what is your business if you don't mind me asking?

Not this Smithy pal. Link please I couldn't find it

My apologies. You are not the author Smithy. It's Eric.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Now this ain't a dig but you seem to have a problem with engaging the keyboard before grey matter and getting a bit befuddled with whom sed wot to who and what yow did or day do :p:D

He's a Reporter by day but often seen entering a phonebox and leaving soon after in a completely different ensemble :)

but dont tell anyone - tis a secret

It's true I've been known to wear me shreddies on the outside but a certain amount of confusion is to be expected at my age :D

Fair comment. I have lots of things going on at the same time.

But hang on, I remember a post asking about me on here on AG and someone saying don't use him and "the internet is your friend" and I think that was Smithy replying to Eric. I'll look it up.

Only place I've posted in relation to you was the original mega thread and that was in 'introduce yourself' and this one

There's a lorra smithys around though

Perhaps you should start concentrating on just one thing at a time.

Maybe if you had concentrated on waxoyling and treating correctly a certain Hilux, then the situation you find yourself in would not have happened.

Cheers
There are a lot of things involved in running a business.

Amen.

Like repeatedly misusing and spamming 4x4 forums for free advertising and abusing your customers
How about spamming my google results page with a load of untrue crap in order to drive my customers onto this forum?
It's not a winning strategy. There are probably several regulars on here keeping silent but who know people whose cars I've done or whose own car was done by me.
If you put your credibility up against mine you will lose. Big time! Like the unfounded attacks on me from ORRP. Users deserted in droves. Like landrovernet regulars when the scales fell from their eyes.
