Fitted twin electric fans at the weekend, and today the were running for a long time whilst driving at good speeds so lots of airflow so I'm thinking that maybe the water pump has gone.
The fans are set to switch on at 88 or 92 degrees, can't remember which.
The rad is also hot all over so that should be cooling enough I would have thought. No water leaks either or being over pressurised.
Could this be likely or could the engine just be running this hot?

It's on LPG aswell which I know runs hotter. It also doesn't overheat.

well, they do run hot, has to be said.

i have mine switched using a land rover spec aircon fan switch, it switches them on after its been running on tickover for about 5 minutes, but they wont come on at all when driving at road speeds.

i do have a 4 row HD radiator though.

also, depends what the switch off temp is - often the fans will switch off at a cooler temp than they switch on at.

i think if the water pump had gone an LPG motor would have welded itself up already!

Aye I knew they ran hot, just making sure it's not going to blow up.

But as you mention it I would have noticed a failed waterpump so it must all be okay.
And I defiantly don't have a 4 row HD rad so that will make a difference. Might look into one in the future though.

Slowly getting through everything with it now :)

when i started offroading mine with electric fans it was fine in the winter, butlast summer it started to cook

new 4 row rad and its cool a cool now. ok my old rad was half rotted and muddy, but even so, this new one is MUCH easier to keep clean

ambient temps make a big difference to the amount my fans are on...

cheers

Where did you get your 4 row rad from noisy? Mine is certainly not in the greatest condition with a few missing fins!

i got mine through my friendly land rover parts supplier,

it's a bearmach part, its in the bearmach catalogue

it was just short of 200 quid (gulp) but i think it costs similar to this to have your existing one re-cored and i sold my used one for about 30 quid, with plenty of fins missing!
