Hi, My relay has "light corrosion", ie is knackered!!!
I have a new one and new pin connectors.
My question is should I try and protect it from water?
It is mounted in the top of the grill, so will be exposed more than if mounted in the engine bay.
As I am replacing the old relay I don't want to change too much unless necessary.

The only reliable option is to relocate the relay and rewire from the original switches, devices etc. I've never been able to waterproof a relay both in my boating or automotive experience, putting in a polythene bag and sealing where the cables enter the bag with silicon and a cable tie will buy you some time
 
You could mount it in a waterproof box with a gland nut for the cables.
Gland nut/wires underneath?
Maplin used to sell this sort of stuff but it's available on eBay now.
 
For one thing you could spend a tenner on a waterproof relay.

For another you could post in a section that hasn’t got an opening that clearly states ‘do not ask questions in this section’ .

a good way to waterproof electrical connectors is with dilitium grease it keeps water out and stops the connectors from rusting
