G'day folks,
I've got a question for those who have fixed their water pumps in the past.
I bought a kit from Craddocks and took the pump to bits. All went well except when it came to fitting the seal. The seal that was supplied in this first kit had a transition fit on the shaft =>
This stopped the shaft from turning properly - silly stiff - no V belt could turn it. So I took it apart and bought a kit from Paddocks. The seal for the pump in the second kit came with a massive clearance of about 4mm on the shaft =>
Hmmm
Difference.
Which is correct?
(I'm assuming the tight fit is not correct but then there comes to mind the idea of sealing and coolant ****ing its way past the seal...)

Question
1) Who has done this job before and remembers how tight or slack the fit for the water pump shaft was when they did it?
