my mechanical knowledge is limited. However I want to learn more and the best way is to attempt some of the jobs on the Disco. At the weekend, I will change the auxillary belt and will check the water pump bearings. I have a workshop manual and it only shows the cooling system for the v8. I watched a video online by Atlantic 4x4 and it looks a really easy job. Yet, there appears to be lots of questions online about what needs to be removed. The video does not refer to any of these. It suddenly occurred to me that the video is from the States and it is a v8. I assumed the process is identical for v8 and TD5. Thinking about it, I am most likely wrong. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Where can I find the download for a TD5 engine? Is the water pump easy to change? On my TDi I had to replace 2. They are clearly weak and I want to pre-empt any failure. Thanks.

its a little different in that water pump is driven from the back of power steering pump ,its removed from the opposite side at the rear, you can move ac pump without disconnecting pipes if you are careful

Thanks. i don't have AC. Do I need to remove anything? I can't find the workshop manual online. Is it worth investing in Haynes?

Do a search for RAVE which is the official Land Rover publication. Make sure you get the UK version. It is very comprehensive and 100 times better than Haynes.

I have done a search for the uk edition. Cannot locate one. Lots of people complaining they have the NAS. Some suggest links. When I click on these, no longer available. Is anyone able to suggest a link?

I have now looked at the manual and it would appear that replacing the water pump is quite complicated. I have to remove the underbelly tray (a nightmare job), centrifuge oil drain pipe and turbo. An absolute pain. Does anyone have any shortcuts?

I have just done mine on TD5 WITH AIRCON it can all be done from above, apart from water drain plug.
I would guess it took me about 3 hours max.
