needin a new water pump in my 300tdi 90. how much should I expect to pay for this?includin labour?how many hours should it take?(i'm hopin it'l solve th constant squeakin)
done mine 2 weeks ago , 200tdi , water pump from me local LR independant was £43 , the main prob i had was getting viscous fan off , once thats off only half day job , if that , but if you dont know when yer timing belt was last changed i'd do that anorl cos its reet next to it
Took me 10 mins to get the water pump off my 2.5 N/A, and I wouldn't have thought that the 300tdi is that much more complex. I'd probably expect it to take them half an hour to fit a new one for you tops, but they'd probably charge you or an hour. My local specialist is either £45 or £50 an hour and the pump will cost you about £20 which you could buy first and then ask them to fit
Just done my water pump on my 200tdi took bout 6 hrs cos three of the bolts had siezed n were buggers to shift even with loadsa heat on them.
You dont need a cranked spanner for the viscous fan just take the fan, pump and cowling off in one go and then undo the fan blade bolts and move the blades out of the way and you can get at it with a normal spanner.
On a 300tdi, it is a bit harder than on a sootdi.
On the 300 you need to remove the powersteering pump pulley to get enough clerance to take the pump out. Not hard to do, took me an hour start to finish, use lots pf penetrating oil ond make sure you have a good 10mm socket!
NOT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR-AT LAST!!!
