Or if the bearing is going the seal will fail soon. Took me & my son about 4-5 hours to do his TD4 pump.Hi,
The water pump is only needed if it’s leaking. As I remember LR ask 3.5 hours for the job.
apparently when they did me Aux belts they said there was a leak its not alot hardly notice it but as they were fair with pricing the belts I thought I should get it done along with the thermostat I read somewhere best to do both.Hi,

aparently garage says there is a leak its very slight going by water loss which is hardly anything as I have not topped up for quite a whileHi,

If you can’t see any leak, and you don’t have any liquid loss, where is the leak ?aparently garage says there is a leak its very slight going by water loss which is hardly anything as I have not topped up for quite a while
Funny you should bring this up, I topped up the resevoir bottle to the full mark-usually have it half way between full and low mark Sunday checked this morning before going out still in the same place checked it 5ish miles later at tesco it has not moved,Now I use to run a garage many moons ago(cavalier mk 2 escorts mk 3 were all the rage) and my Garage mind and my wifeys are wondering if someone is trying to have us over. I do remember back in the day customers who were not liked would sometimes be sold there own gearboxs back to them when it was only a cv joint also its been sat for a few days and level the same.If you can’t see any leak, and you don’t have any liquid loss, where is the leak ?
exactly our thoughts on the matter, will have to check if they actually changed the belts, can they be viewed from above or should I take off the side of the engine bay cover? If it's not loosing coolant, then there's no leak.
The belts are visible from above with a torch.exactly our thoughts on the matter, will have to check if they actually changed the belts, can they be viewed from above or should I take off the side of the engine bay cover?
morning Nodge and thanks once again,The belts are visible from above with a torch.
does the quote of £867.43 seem realistic for pump and stat housing replacement?? seems a bit much you can probably get a clutch done for that They quoted £470.63 just to do stat housing is that not next to pump? as I said earlier checked again this morning and the coolant level seems to be the same so no leak.No need to go under the car too see the belt. It can be seen when you open the bonnet and you there is a manufacturing date on it .
Only the thermostat housing is in plastic. The pump has aluminium housing.
No a quote of nearly £900 for a water pump is expensive, very expensive.does the quote of £867.43 seem realistic for pump and stat housing replacement?? seems a bit much you can probably get a clutch done for that They quoted £470.63 just to do stat housing is that not next to pump? as I said earlier checked again this morning and the coolant level seems to be the same so no leak.
morning Nodge and thanks once again,
I contacted Newbury 4x4 yesterday there mechanics said pumps do not often leak but the housing for pump and stat is plastic and that is what normally leaks There prices are to replace stat housing £470.63 then to do pump as well wait for it £867.43 double the price nearly to do pump??
We thought so, probably either do not want this sort of work and if they get the job there quids in.The first garage who did the belts and imagined a water leak. Its seems impossible to find a good local garage. I will go back to using mygarage in Hermitage They are popular is the only problem booking in January at the moment,No a quote of nearly £900 for a water pump is expensive, very expensive.
The pump is £75 and a thermostat is £35 inc VAT. So £757 labour is ridiculous for a 3 hour job.
I would replace the factory clip with a worm drive clip. The factory bands slacken off as the hose ages, so simply fitting a clip you can tighten will normally solve the issue.now its stopped raining I have had a chance to have a good look,Landy has got new belts, I think I have found the water problem as you look down on the belts you can see the stat housing and a pipe about inch diameter held on the housing with the "clamp tipe jubilee clips not the screw ones just around this area you have a slightly damp housing the coolant bottle is as I said still on the full mark, I was wondering wether the pipe clip had weakenedwhere it attachs to the stat housing.
