Going to change the water pump bolts while I am there.
High strength stainless cap heads or like for like with plenty anti seize paste?

Is this into an alloy casting ?
Is the pump casing alloy ?

If so, i'd avoid stainless.
Zinc plated/passivated or galvanised (with loads of anti-sieze).

I always put normal grease on any bolts.
Stainless in aluminium can be an issue for corrosion, you can get special paste to prevent it, but again normal grease seems to work okay.

They go through the ali water pump, through timing chest cover into the block. So, bit of everything.

Make sure you put the bolts in the correct holes. I think there are different lengths
Many different bloody lengths, learnt that the hard way on a d1 200 many years ago.
Now I draw a pic of the timing cover on some cardboard, make holes where the bolts go through, and as I remove each bolt from the engine it gets put into the cardboard.

Knew I had a pic somewhere.
