Ive got a 300 tdi defender and all the water pipes are hot and yet the header tank is cold water temp gauge dosnt work is this normal or wats the problem ? Thanks

is the coolant returning to the header tank?

It sounds like you have a circulation issue.

Could be an airlock, heater pipes are the highest part, if there is air up there then it will rarly clear on a 300tdi setup, I would however try driving it up a really steep hill, I have had luck with this in the past.

Can also mean other things, my HG went a month ago and it was leaking a very small amount of gas into the water jacket, it would first knock all the water out the heater.
