if you take the top hose off and start the engine how fast should the water come out of the top hose ? Trickle ? Jet ? steady flow ?

If you take the top hose of the water flow will depend on the state of the thermostat.

Over heating replaced rad and stat was hoping the water pump would cure it if not ill drop a recon unit in. Aside from turners who I really cannot afford does any one have any GOOD remanufacturing companies who could sort the motor

Are you sure you have let the air out properly if you read rave after refilling and running the car wait for the water to stabilise fit cap wait for thermostat to open ( warm passenger side hose ) turn off allow to cool! and refill .

If thermostat is not opening are you absolutely sure radiator is not blocked. Chech if bottom of rad and especially bottom hose to stat is warm. New rad is much Cheever than new engine.
