Hi,

I have water dripping down from next to the gear box and cannot exactly locate it and I also have a fan that is doing ninty every time I stop and stops after a few minutes. I checked the radiator and the coolant levels and all seems to be in order......I also looked through the RAVE and couldn't find an explanation for the location of the water leak.....

Any ideas what it might be?

Also have the age old problem of sunroofs leaking and sir suspension going down but those I can handle!!

Thanks
Ted

sometimes on the vehicle if the engine is to hot the fan will keep going until it's cold enough.

not sure about the leak, but it could be air con if it's working hard.

hang on - discoted didnt say anything about the leak being inside the cabin. He said "next to the gearbox"

I dont use the air con and the water in the car only occurs when it rains at the moment.

It could be a number of things.
leaking windscreen seal, from the roof down one of the pillars, door seal, splash from puddles to a hole in the floor.

If you can get under the carpet you my find a water mark, like a trace line

hope this helps

Sorry for not clarifing that, the leak is under the car down the side of the actual gear box.....its that big thing you can't miss on a disco!! Don't worry I've got all the other problems with water leaking as well.....it's great having one of these disco's it keeps forums like this going full time!!!

I think it is the air con myself but haven't had a chance to get a look at that with these short evenings!!!
I was onto a local guy here and he reckons the fans start slipping after a while and don't spin as fast as they ought. I reckon I'll let him look at that and I'll look at the air con.

mine has 126k on the clock and is begining to show the signs of it TBH!! but heck the engine will go forever!

will keep you updated

If yours is a TD5 and your 'aircon' fan on the front of the rad continues run it is either that the vehicle is very hot or the D has (or thinks it has) overheated at some point.
You need the fault codes completely cleared even if nothing appears and should clear the fault. Ours did this when we first got it.

Thank you C&L,

I forgot to mention that the air con/heating is not working so I reckon it has to be something to do with that.
I can asure you that it is a sorry sight at the moment sitting down on it's rear end and giving out about every thing!!
