Hi All,

A newbie here! I recently bought myself a Disco 2 (2001 TD5) which is a bit different to Porsche I had before it - but much better for the wife, kids & dogs. Anyway, the Disco's great and my worries about it being a bit boring have proved to be unfounded, it's also fun - but in a different way. However, just recently I've noticed and odd smell (thought it was the dog) but on further investigation, it's got a water leak and the front drivers side carpet is wet. The water appears to be running in from the area of the centre tunnel, where the air inlet for your feet is, could it be the aircon?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Cheers
James.

Welcome James!
Could be the Air con!

Or the Wife and kids??? :D Just a little jest , no offence meant

the A/C has two? drain pipes coming from the region of the evaporator. some times they get glogged so you have to clear them out. either get underneath and look for the two drain pipes and stuff a piece of wire up them or move the carpets out the way, remove the pipes from the placcy box and clear them that way. don't be tempted to stick a drill up them as you'd be asking for expensive trouble.

Thanks for the tips chaps, I've done a bit more digging today with some more knowledable friends and found that the heater matrix is shot (b*****ks). So it's booked in tomorrow for a replacement - bugger of a job apparently, dash out etc! Thank god I bought a warranty:D :D :D

Cheers
James.

why have you put' barracks' in brackets?? and why have you replaced some letters with *'s?

ahh haa,
i also have the wet carpet syndrome, i have noted the cheap route, and am keeping my fingers crossed that it is the problem, however,
@clutchdust, worstcase scenero could this be the slight waterleak i have reported in my other post, well ,yes, it could be, any thoughts how i could pin it down with out ripping half the front ???
thanks
voith:) :) :) :) :) :) ok i have to put this in as i know i have left myself open

Just got this problem on my '96 Tdi this morning. Spoke to my man in the know and he confirmed it is the matrix without even seeing it.
He is getting me a bottle of coolant system sealer to try as he reckons that usually does the trick pretty successfully. He said not to use the stuff available in Halfords etc as it's rubbish.
Hope it works or that's another £350 :(
