Diesel Pump off the vehicle again...

Been buggering about with DTI retiming and retiming pump still won't start

Farmer had a solution we took all diesel pipes off, then with ignition on turned engine over by hand.

Pump is timed with lovely 154 on DTI but 180 degrees out...

Must have slipped and spun when i broke down

Belt off and messed around

Got it nearly running out of adjustment on the pulley

Pump off and on the bench ready to take flange off refit to give enough adjustment etc.

Time machine day....

got home at 7pm

Tomorrow is a another day...

Timed the pump on the bench, checked and rechecked looked all good

Refitted to vehicle

Fitted pulley

Problem came when fitting timing belt,, farmers son noticed this

front of pump was moving when u rocked the big nut.

Think the bearing is shot in the main shaft. either as a result of the pump slipping, found out why that happened as well. or that was start of problem that caused the seal failure..

Fitted an alternative FIP from an engine that has been stored for about 5 years.

had checked timing with DTI pre fit, right on the money.

Washed it out with fresh derv ( white i will add...no expense spared...lol)

fitted timing belt everything all good

landy starts and runs but not right...

Checked and recheck pump timing..

Everything good..

So think PUMP is fecked..

tomorrow and morning i will be emptying it off tools etc.

Monday i will supervise the towing off the 90 to a lean too shed...

and then ring a man about FIP refurbishment

Will be a toss up whether 110 or 90 on the road first

That's great new @Cavey_P38 , be sure to post pics when they're back. Q? what are you doing with your injectors? When DBob refurbished my FIP I took the decision to buy new Bosch injectors - at the time I it best to complete the whole fuel system so in tip top condition. DBob will recondition and balance injectors too

Just sent the pumps for now

will consider injectors in the future, just need either 90 or 110 on the road as come April work will be mad and i need one or both done and driving.

Also was a bit worried re the bill as have chucked more than i wanted to at the 110 and work is v quiet at the moment re Covid..with missus on furlough as well all a bit tighter than i would like.

However the 110 4c i put for sale yesterday has gone mad on the bay..

got it on ok and plumbed up in about 30 mins, but have had it on and off a few times...lol

got the farmers son to do the timing belt he is a dab hand at them.

Only problem the banjo fitting and pipe for the fuel supply went with it to Diesel Bobs, and the pump cam back with a lovely plug..

Spoke to Bob he is going to send it via post.

so after turning over by hand a few times, i would normally bleed it and spin it up check it ran etc, before switch off and then putting all the timing cover , PAS alternator and water pump on.

So managed to cobble a fitting from a kubota compact tractor to test it.

worked the lift pump and then turned the keys...

Battery Flat...

so cleared up put battery on charge and went home

Tomorrow is another day and to quote the legend Capt Tom, "Tomorrow will be a good day..."

Hopefully..

Thansk @Flossie

Return one was new and in the pump and is the small one, had them all out on my 110 cleaning and checking them. just missing the supply one got a banjo bolt off another pump just not the pipe

Uselss info I know, but the restrictor banjo is bloody expensive, something like 40 quid.

Well i have the landy running..

Haven't driven it yet, need to change the wheels and move two bits of farm equipment to unblock the barn doors, ran out of energy and go. no lunch i think was flagging a bit.

running on a jury rigged banjo of a kubota tractor, until i get the orginal back.

God Bless Diesel Bob

The 90 not only lives but drives fantastic, very sharp on the throttle goes the best it has ever gone.

My mate got out of his 200tdi 110 then blasted the 90 up the farm road, he thinks the same runs well.

Looking forward to getting my 110 one back when he has finished it,

Life in the old girl yet.

going better than the 110 which keep conking out.

think it is fuel related, seems as fuel level is dropping in tank it is getting worse.
have order new lift pump so that will be mon or tues

Have you drained some fuel out of the tank to see what its like?
Might have fuel bug, so well worth checking, 90 has drain bung bottom of tank, not sure on 110?
Has the 110 got the silly filter over the rear axle?

it is a brand new tank with fresh fuel in it.

110 has a bung in bottom of tank, it has a sedimeter on it halfway down drivers side.

Hopefully fuel lift pump will cure it,

Will keep you posted
