Greetings compadres,

I had a great day on Saturday taking it through ruts, puddles, mud and rolling hills. So it was nice and dirty and needed a wash. I went to a recommend automatic car wash afterwards (as a top up after pressure jetting it myself). It was a more powerful car wash than usual. Unfortunately, hugely unfortunately, for FFS towards the end of the cycle I noticed that water seeped through down the B pillars... Then my speakers started to make random, non-musical sounds and a bit of burnt electric smell...:(

So the next day I checked the sunroof drainage - all clear. I did re-calibrate it (the 20second button hold), the back of it did not sit as flush, so I think that is where the water was forced in...now it sits flush. I would like to consult with ya, please:
  1. Are there just the two at front sunroof drainage holes, or there are some more at the back of it? (I could not see any more)
  2. Could there be any other potential places where water could have leaked through apart from the sunroof (remember, it was around B pillars).
  3. Attached picture is of the back of the sunroof rubber. Does that look ok? should it sit more flush? do these get/should be changed? I am assuming the home to mother nature on it is common and provides extra protection? :)
  4. Are there any CPU on the floor of the vehicle? Is it just the speakers I need to worry about? (the burnt smell had to come from somewhere)
  5. Advice re the collected water? Do I let it be and disappear with time if there is nothing at risk? Or do i need to lift the carpet and dry it? Does it have a common place to collect, front back, everywhere :D
Thank you!

I personally would never use an automatic car wash, they can cause a lot of damage and, don't do a very good job anyway.

You are supposed to get the butler to gently clean it with warm soapy water, preferably inside and airconditioned garage where the nasty rain cannot get at it.

Nope, I'd rather do it myself, then I know it's been done properly.

There are four sunroof drains afaik
in the rear left of the boot is all the entertainment stuff and it is known for getting water in there and buggering it all up i believe the rear drains are in there as well, check for water in the spare wheel well.

You are right, had a further research and the are 2 more at the back. They go to the rear wheel arches. Not sure how to get to them from the top, only seen from the bottom...

Checked the spear wheel, no more than usual amount of water i.e. just little condensation from LPG.

Cheers.

The spare wheel place - one sachet will do.
Under the carpet in the saloon - no idea... need to check how to pull it apart:rolleyes:
My son has one of those carpet cleaners with attachment for upholstery cleaning. Used that on carpet when my heater matrix let go, left it nearly perfectly dry. Believe similar cleaners are available to hire at decent rates. Have a look at Tesco's they rent out something

Struggling to find diagrams of what lies under the saloon carpet. Anybody has anything? (I do understand that each RR can be different :) )

I'm sure others will correct me if wrong, but maybe RAVE? Or if later , maybe the other one whose name I can't remember right now

Remembered as soon as I hit enter: Topix

I have a 2006 one, so not that late. Looked at one I have and there seems to be nothing there... Looks like an exploration for me. Need to figure out best way to get under the carpet first
