Hi all
I am going to start running my 300tdi on veggi soon and have read that you can clean the rings etc using a water injection system that feeds a mist of water into the turbo stream which then vaporises and cleans the rings etc.. Think i have that right..
Anyway i was wondering if anyone on here has this set-up as i would like some advice on how best to do it.
Thanks
Rob

Don't think it will clean the ring's but will clean all the combustion chambers, will increase performance slightly also as it will reduce boost temps.

Errrr don't know how that happened but just in case you didn't hear the first time :D

two words

SNAKE & OIL

anything flushed from the bores/rings,etc will be dumped straight back on when the water evaporates.

I think you might be getting mixed up with turbo cleaning. That is a recognised way of cleaning turbos. I think you have to be a bit careful though. If you overdo it, you could hydraulic the engine. Or are you talking about water/methanol injection like they use on dragsters which may not be appropriate for a 300tdi.
Either way, I don't think either technique is really designed to clean out the rings.

No, the OP is correct. There is a lot being talked about water mist injection at the moment. I posted about myself some time ago. Its a time honoured method of charge cooling and done professional fit pre turbo or near manifold fit DIY. Over on the veg oil forum it is well thought of, indeed a lister engine owner who runs on WVO does it as a cleaning cycle to remove ring gumming and had had the engine apart regularly to check its efficacy. Its widely discussed on youtube and the performance diesel forums,so OP, get googling.

Now before anyone jumps down my neck I am not saying I approve it, indeed I am inclined to be as sceptical as Trax . BUT its certainly worth discussion.

As I understand it the water is misted in by an electric pump at with the engine at constant high revs so there is no chance of hydraulicing or water in bores etc,but a steam cleaning effect. I will try to find the links.

As I say , dont jump on me. I havent done it myself as I would want to know a lot more before I did .
