Once again I have a wet passenger footwell carpet. A friend of mine unblocked a drain pipe last year but I don't know where it is. Also, I've noticed the foam under the air vents below the windscreen is virtually non existent, could the rain be getting in there? Would the foam actually stop the water getting in? Any information much appreciated.

Probably the little clips the screws go into that hold plenum etc down. They have a foam pad that deteriorate over time.

Sorry, I should've been more specific. The car's a 2000 P38 4.6 petrol auto. I changed the pollen filters and rubbers last year so I have ruled them out. Also, when I put the car up on ramps there was water running out of the cill on the passenger side.

Check your sunroof drains aren't blocked (they exit behind the front wheel arch b the A pillar)

Also, taste it.....if it is sweet and bitter - Coolant.....Soapy - Screenwash......Plain - Rain Water or Air Con Drain.

As coolant dries it becomes a bit sticky, so have a good feel around!

Definitely not coolant, no smell at all. Wife reports that water was dripping on her ankle/leg on our last trip out. Seems to be behind glove compartment.

Pollen filter housing leaking or the plenham filter screws just above and below I took all mine out and sealed them

Or the bottom of the screen not sealed properly
Thanks Pete but I think that from the amount of water(the carpets soaking wet), it's more than screws leaking. As I've said, the foam that sits under the screen, inside the air intakes, is all but gone. Could it be rain getting in there?

Yer the foam wouldn’t stop that tho it could be the screw holes all along it tho or the air con drain inside the car up inside the centre console I’ve it’s not connected to the drain pipe

Aircon drains blocked are a possibility. Other wise the drains at each end or the area behind where your foam has disappeared. I got fed up of replacing the foam and used perforated alloy sprayed black last time.

they also leak below the filters, there is a rubber piece held down with screws . you need to remove them lift the rubber and seal ,then replace all.I had to do this on mine as both were leaking.

the area i am referring to isr below the pollen filters

That’s the bit I’m on about. With the screws and rubber seal against the body.

Thanks to you all for great advice. I’ve sealed everything I could get my hands on. The only job outstanding is the A/C drains, which I can’t find. Are there any photos available on here? Failing that, I’ll go back to the garage.

The AC drains are either side of the gear box they should have a rubber 'nipple' to them.....
