Our 2003 1.8 Kalahari has an odd water flushing around the engine when the engine is first switched on. This has been happening for a few weeks now. Lately however this water flushing around the engine appears to be continuing when driving.

Anyway have any idea's whats going on?

So you are hearing water flushing / sloshing around are you?
Has any work been done involving the cooling system?
Has the coolant in the coolant tank / bottle lowered or gone?
It may be a case of topping up and bleeding the cooling system.

I haven't drained it ever. Is that an easy job or one for the local mechanic?

There are two bleed screws - one on the return from the heater matrix and a similar one near the EGR cooler if the petrol engine has such a device.

You don't even need a screwdriver - a one pence coin fits the slot.

Don't try to take the screw all the way out - one and a half turns will do - if water comes out immediately just close it again.

Going to give this a go in the morning. Thanks man.
