After changing the rad a couple of weeks ago I now have water coming out of the air vents. Obviously something has gone. I need the Landy to go on holiday on Sunday, how to I trace the leak and can the heating system be bypassed?

Take it that you mean the lower vents?

Sounds like the matrix has 'gone'.

Dunno how old yours is, but on mine the heater circuit is obvious above the cylinder head, leading to the heater box on the left hand side of the bulkhead. Clamp those off and refill the rad and you'll be cold but OK. Just turning the tap off on the hot/cold slider should work too.

kseal all the way baby!!!! sealed up a hole in the head of me dads mgf (i know i said not to buy it, but he wanted a 2 seater sports car )

I would disconnect the two pipes that go to the heater (in the back right of the engine bay) and join em together with a pipe joiner or piece of metal pipe using the original jubilee clips to clamp it down tight.

The wife has limped it home and it does look like the heater box has gone. Moving one of the inlet pipes doesn't feel good. I'm gonna bypass it hopefully with some 15mm copper pipe.

Next question. How's the heater box come out. It's dark and I can't see any screws or bolts.

By the way - thanks for the really fast responses.

There are 2 bolts at the bottom and two bolts at the top holding it into place

I have fattened a 15mm pipe with electrical tape and bypassed the heater. We'll just have to wear hats and scarves when we go to the airport.

I've spotted the two top bolts now. The don't look like they are part of the heater box but I can see they are now. Thanks. What's a heater box cost these days?

I take it this is what I need. If I'm right then 40 squid ain't bad.
Part Number : AAP817
MATRIX FOR HEATER 90/110 WITH CURVED
INLET AND OUTLET PIPES

You can either buy just the matrix which means you need to drill out the rivets to replace the old one or get a complete heater assembly off ebay.

I got the matrix and fitted it today. As a novice it took hours but I got there in the end. It needs new cables but that's a job for another day. It's still running cold so I blocked the radiator off and it run hot. I've now blocked 50% off so I'll see how it goes as I'm on my way to the airport soon.

Is 50% radiator blocking still too much, with out any the gauge hardly gets past the white but :(

It should be hotter than that. Check the temperature of the coolant pipes by trying to hold em. (CAREFUL IN CASE THEY ARE ROASTING HOT). make sure that they are only warm and not hot. If they are hot it sounds like your temperature sensor has had it. If they are only warm then it tallies with what the temp guage is saying.
