I have seen alot of kits advertised on the net which suggest a potential fuel saving for petrol engines.

The idea is to fix a certain kit to the airflow of the fuel injection system, pumping a browns gas, water mix in. . . Apparently this is not a scam, and actually works with no adverse affect to the engine.

Anyone tried this here ?

Tell yer what - you go ahead and fit one, then report back to us how good it is.
 
Is it quack ? I dunno much, but I do know that hydrogen is flamable. . and oxygen helps flame. Theres two hydrogen atoms in water/ 1 oxygen. And electrolysis can be used to seperate the hydrogen from the oxygen. . . The question is can you get enough charge from a car (running on fuel) to produce eloctrolysis ? - which would mean that basic water could supplement the combustible fluid. . .petrol or diesel. . .
 
don't forget when you fit it that you have to swap your engine oil for snake oil, it helps it cool better:D
 
Don't yer think that if it worked, it would be taking the world by storm, instead of just relieving a few gullible folk, who believe everything they read on the Internet, out of their hard-earned?

Fact is, you need a LOT more energy to release Hydrogen from water by electrolosis than you can get back by burning the hydrogen. Otherwise you're defying the laws of physics.
 
does that mean it would work on me disco then? i never listened in physics and i dont mind breaking the odd law:p
 
Well the Hiclone definately saves 30% fuel, and thats not really taken the world by storm. . .The hiclone circulates air in a different way in the airflow changing the way fuel is taken in by the engine.

I don't think that because something hasn't taken the world by storm negates it as a possible solution.

Yeah that makes sense, , The law of thermodynamics would suggest that a car which runs exlcusivly on water would not be possible. OTOH, maybe a modified alternator car produce enough charge to produce some hydrogen, ,which can be used to 'supplement' the fuel supply.

But then, If before Diesel's engine I showed you a quart of olive oil, and said this is going to replace my horse, you'd probably have laughed then too . . .

Even then on fuel engines we need a battery and a starter motor to suppliment the first few cycles.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I'm just figuring out ways to save in fuel. Thanks for your help fellas. That water thing seems a bit quack eh. . .I dunno. . was never good at physics - so maybe the internet cons floating around are pretty convincing, with no real possibility. Kinda made sense when they said the kit could seperate the hydrogen and oxygen fromthe water. Cause I've seen oxy torches do that / using water.

Many years ago I fitted a water injection kit bought through Exchange and Mart and fitted it to a Morris Oxford (do you remember those?). It seemed to work and if I remember correctly the car did 50mpg as opposed to 30mpg. I was well pleased but after a couple of weeks the flow valve, just a little plastic tap really, packed up. Tried to contact the supplier, even tried through E & M but unsuccesful. Was told that this supplier had been bought out or bribed by the government to cease trading as this thing was too succesful in what it was claimed to do and would upset the economy if it caught on. Sounds like a load of crap to me but slightly interesting too.
 
Really ? So perhaps there is creedence to the water kit afterall ? Perhaps a Creedence Clear water revival is in order? !! hehehe.

I do know those oxfords. My friend had one with a number pate 00I COK. .Oh Aye cock ! He was an expat from Bradford.

I was discussing the hiclone on MG-Rover.org with some petrolheads, long time ago, the consensus was dont waste your money on them.
 
My neighbour has one installed mate. .

He gets cars close to free from a club he's part of. He experiments with all kinds of **** on cars that he cares less about. He picks up cars for like $50. I'm going to install a water injection kit on one of em . .let you all know how it goes.

Well he installed the Hiclone on his primary car Ford Falcon ELi. We in Australia drive gass guzlers and at 4litres the Ford Falcon ELi is just that. The idea of focusing the fuel using air to the point of ignition is just brilliant ! Not only do you save fuel YOU GET MORE POWER !/ / /

I sold my ELI a while back in favor of the freelander.

I never thought though, with landies that engine guards would be riveted to the frame of the car. Did you see that problem ? Someone told me you had a mod for this ? Can you please shed some light in my other thread NI?

On the Hiclone site they suggest a 15% reduction in fuel. . .

in practical terms, my neighbour who'd usually spend $100 a week in fuel is now spending $70. .

you know thats like $1500 savings a year. . .and the petrolheads should know that some of their hard earned fuel ends up wasted in the exhaust pipe.

of all the fuel saving idea's this one defs has the thumbs up in Australia at the moment. . .and lord knows we need to do more miles per gallon than any other people cause our country is just so ****en good ! I mean big. . .
 
I have seen the Hyclone advertised for about the last 15 years. always wondered if they are as good as they say? I live in Perth, will have to ask around and see if anyone has fitted one and what they think
 
Theres them fuel magnets too, dunt ferget bout them!
save yer loads o fuel accordin t the makers!:rolleyes: ;)
