So thinking about how I can improve my washer jets, as lets be honest Defender jets are pretty pathetic.

Thinkiny either wiper mounted, twin standard nozzles or the fan jet from CSI.

As ive got a DCPU there isnt a pump for the rear jets, so am I right in thinking I can add a second standard pump into the washer bottle. Then plumb that into a single line for the front jets.

Both wired together off the same switch, would it have enough power to run both pumps?

Anyone know the size of the washer pipe?

Have you put another jet in the bulkhead?
I have double jets, 1 set on each side of the bulkhead, think the pipe is 6mm diameter unsure what the bore size is(just about goes over standard brake pipes)

I did fit a bigger pressure washer pump in line on another motor, but found a head light washer pump is too strong & blew the pipes off.

Ive seen the Optimil ones just far too much money. The CSI one is a fan jet and £70 by comparison!

Ok good to know. Im thinking two standard pumps feeding the same hose should be pretty decent! As long as they can get the right power.

Adding two pumps won't improve much due to pipe I.D. resistance over given length. If not going the more expensive route one needs to have 2no pumps each supplying a separate 6mm hose, one hose to each jet nozzle...oh and if sharing 12v it would be worth wiring in a twin pole relay.

Doing the above will double water output/volume/velocity

eta: hold on, why didn't I think of that earlier...? off to 90 to make mods before retiring for the night

I put double jets on mine. Easy enough to do as there’s already a hole in bulkhead for windscreen where I assume the wiper spindle would have gone on a right hand drive vehicle. A few years ago I also installed a Heatshot heating system so now have hot water & twin washer jets. It does make a difference

A common conversion is to use mist jets off of a more modern vehicle. Many are also available in the heated variety.

I still have not found a heated 1 that fits into the bulkhead .as the pipe on the washers Iv had freeze the screen wash. Unsure how to get round this problem? Also the screen wash is heated by wrapping brake pipe round the heater pipe
Did think of putting some classic RR type into the bonnet ;)

Thanks! So I could add two pumps, up the ID of the pipe by 2mm and jobs a goodun?

Cheers guys!

@bankz5152 , if your Defender water bottle has two pump recesses drill same size hole as your existing water pump fits [it just pulls out], or buy a new washer bottle and drill https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROV...828618&hash=item3f6e7f02c3:g:1AgAAOSwX5hd3Ghz + second pump. Run 2x washer hoses...one to each nozzle. No need to increase ID as this will reduce water velocity - a jet needs good pressure to work correctly, increasing ID reduces velocity :. jet nozzle o/p.

Your choice as to final nozzle option...but these billet jobbies are very expensive for, what is, water on a windscreen. I hadn't seen/really like @lynall 's link to the wiper fixed nozzles as these get the water to where it should be: at the arc of the wiper. Think we should all go this combined route...twin pumps, twin lines and @lynall 's nozzles :)

Ive had a great idea

Fit the wiper mounted washers + the fan jet washer. Off separate pumps, clear anything off then!

I did order a CSI fan jet, looks rather nice and comes with a new pump and pump

You should go posh... use/look for a merc bottle that has a heat element to warm the screen wash up. Some use electric & some divert the heater matrix pipe through it.

I’m sure you could make this part.
