Popped into my local dealer (Stratstone Stourbridge) today to get them to have a look at the problem with the car 'holding' gears (see my other thread. I was told some rather worrying news that might just be the final straw with Land Rover.
Apparently there is a 'hold' on the warranty on my car - this was apparently put in place about twelve months ago. The dealer traced the code back to a problem with the incorrect fuel being used.
I did put petrol in the car about 12 months ago and the car was towed in to Land Rover Hereford and the tank and lines were drained and cleaned out and off I went on my way the following day. - I was told by the dealer that this was the correct procedure as I had not even turned on the ignition let alone started the car. Stratstone are now claiming that the work should have included new fuel lines, new pump and new injectors and the bill should be around £3k. I pointed out to them that none of this was explained to me at the time and that I had only acted upon the advise of a Land Rover Dealer. Whilst sympathetic, they tell me that once a 'hold' has been put on a warranty it is virtually impossible to get it lifted.
Has anyone on here had any similar issues with a LR warranty, if so, I would really appreciate any ideas or hints about who to talk to and the best steps to take to get this sorted. I get the feeling this could be a long struggle!!!
