Vag group motors have has them for well over a decade
Wife is on her fourth with laccy calipers, all been good, but do need diag tool to wind pistons in to replace pads, you can billy bodge your way around it if you are desperate enough
Brother-in-law's Passat had repeated issues with bad seals on the caliper motors, so they rusted inside. Eventually the eBay versions worked well & seals have lasted better than OEM !!

I don't trust electrickery,my friends sister had a low speed shunt when she ran into the car in front in heavy traffic approaching the Dartford crossing last week. Her nearly new Citroen's brake by wire system failed and it had just been to the Main Stealers for a software update someone in Canterbury is going to get their ear chewed off when they reopen on Tuesday.;)

My bmw went in for a recall, came back to me with door locks not working which they reluctantly fixed. Radio had a mind of its own and eventually the door locked packed in completely.. nothing to do with the recall work though

Apologies for the delay! The car went back in and it would appear that one of the e-brake winders wasn't releasing as far as it should, creating friction on one of the rear discs and making it excessively hot. Hopefully replacement should solve the issue!!

E-brake. Another utterly pointless invention that does nothing except cause trouble.

Interesting that 1 caliper/e brake causes a whole set to need changing;).
But it will be nice if you can keep us all updated in a month or 2 as too if its sorted:).

Maintenance is a wonderful thing:) Who does it is the question:rolleyes:.

She was crawling in four lanes of traffic and no damage so neither car stopped.it was for the bridge not the tunnel Pete,I put it down to LGV drivers rubbernecking at lady drivers  I used to set the overheight alarm off every time I used the old southbound tunnel even though I'd pulled off into the police lane for an escort as I had to straddle both lanes.three times a week usually, bet I was popular.:D
