Good evening guys, I've done a forum search and can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

It's just a general enquiry really I've got a V8 Disco 2 and it seems to get upto temperature within a couple of miles, is this normal for these engines?

Many thanks.

Sean.

It stays about the middle of the gauge, the previous owner had two new cylinder heads fitted.
Ideally, you want it to sit just a smidgen shy of half way. Just keep a close check of the fluids until your comfortable with the cars performance, and then keep on checking them after. :D

+1, should be at full operating temp after a couple of miles. Mine guage is just shy of 12o'clock. I had both heads done 30k miles ago & all good, i did change the rad, waterpump & change coolant.

A slight hijack of the thread as my Disco 1 3.5 V8 is very slow to warm up.
I've recently fitted a new cam etc. and a new radiator, but now it takes about 5 miles for the needle to start moving on the gauge, and then stays there.I was on the motorway last night cruising at about 70 for about 15 miles and the needle didn't move from just above the 1st line, which means the heaters are only just warm too.
Any ideas most welcome.

Have left the thermostat out? Or put the wrong one in? Is there enough coolant in and is it bled properly? Ie lift the bottle when filling.

Didn't touch thermostat, plenty of good quality coolant. Will try bleeding again, just in case of airlock. Will also check thermostat as just remembered I put rad seal in the old rad,and might not have fully flushed system before fitting new one.

I've got a '87 RRC 3.5efi, new rad a few thousand miles ago, original eleven blade fan & fitted with an 88 degree 'stat. The car is only used about once a week & reaches normal temp (just short of gauge centre) in a couple of miles.
