Hi All
Urgent request for a fixing kit for the rear window guard for freelander.Tried land rover but they say you can not buy the fixings separate has any one got one for sale or can you tell me if i can buy one any where. THANK YOU. cuzzy

come on some one must have one or know where to get one i know iam new on here but you can talk to me.

fixing kit not usually available because it's fixed to the car with scrivets, and the only way to get them out is to drill them, which renders the scrivets u/s.

You could get two small pieces of square tube and nut/bolt these to the tailgate for the guard to drop in, no-one would know the guard wasn't fixed

thanks for the help think i'll just bolt it to the door just hope i dont make a mess cutting the holes in the plastic panel

All ours uses is 2 10mm bolts and nuts,it is a genuine guard as well.

mine is genuine too; there are indeed 2 10mm bolts which hold the guard into the door, but the guard has to sit in two square tubes which are fitted to the rear door with scrivets. these are not fitted during the factory build and come as part of the kit

Hi,
I am looking for the instructions to fit the rear window guard when i came cross your post which sounds hopeful. I have the fittings but no template/instructions. Have you still got a copy?
cheers olicasp

I have fitted my rear window guard to the 3rd Freelander.

Fitting is simple
Remove rear door panel

Fit guard to its mountings and offer it up to the door, get the guard central to the glass and mark the mountings. Fix with BIG pop rivet.

Now for careful measurement to drill the panel, measure 3 times, then drill a tiny pilot hole for the holes required, mark where they are on the bracket, (this gets around you measuring slightly wrong) then make the correct size holes for the guard and screws

Yes your lucky I have a copy....but got rid of the landy over a year ago after too many faults!
Email me your address and ill bung it in the post
