hello all i am after a 6x6 series landrover any condition considered can travel to collect

thankyou for looking

What are you planning on using it for then?

I've heard of people getting drive to the rear axle by putting a PTO on the back of the gearbox, then a propshaft running to a second transfer box with a flange grafted onto the front of it, then another propshaft running from the rear output shaft to the rear axle. You can then choose between 2wd 4wd or 6wd.

hello thankyou for your replies. missed out on one last year have got a recovery crane to fit in rear of it to show her if i ever manage to get one.
the pic of the truck you said to look at looks fun wouldnt mind building one myself..

you could do worse than looking for a 130 to convert im looking for a 127 exmod raier motor or ambulance myself not to interested in the 6x6 exceot fer to take the weight if i do a ott camper:D

problem wiv the 6x6 was with 6x6 you got dredfull windup as the rear last axle was no traveling the same distance u no how it works thats why so many are still 4x4 but with a last axle having no drive just freewheeling but adds to the payload

Get stuck in and build one yourself I say. There's probably an egineering shop near you who could do the necessary adaptations to a transfer box and build some custom propshafts for not too much money. If your just planning on showing it then a 6x4 conversion would be much easier.

dont know what he wants his for but my reasoning is payload and length as a camper although am wondering what differance it might make if front and rearmost wheels had drive:confused:

You won't get any transmission windup using the idea I'm talking about because it's possible to put it into 2x6. You would get that problem if you use a special middle axle with an output flange on the back of driving the rear axle though (which is the way all the factory approved conversions were done I think).

Ashcrofts used to do a thru drive, but I think Foleys are the only supply now , £3K plus last I heard .
Sandtrekker was one of thefirst series with 6x6 selectable 2 , 4 or 6 with freewheel hubs as well on first and third axles. That had a 2nd prop from main transfer box going over 2nd axle to third. HTSH

p.s. have a look at sixappealwheelgroup on multiply
