can i ask the daft question and ask whats different from a 1ton transfer box and a regular transfer box???

I do have a regular flavour transfer box spare.

! ton has a bigger step down in low range, partly to take in to account the higher gearing of 900 tyres. It means something's a bit different at the back, as you can't fit an overdrive.

i see, cheers for that! mines definatly not a 1 ton one then as i just took and overdrive off it.

I've been told on another forum, that I'll have to change the gearbox too, as the output shaft is a different size from a Series III gearbox. Anybody know?

I'm not interested in an overdrive, just want to lower gearing for off-road as I've got 9.00 tyres.

Now I'm getting more confused.
All Iwant to do is lower the gear ratios because I've got 9.00 tyres. It was suggested that fitting a 1 Ton transfer box instead of the standard to my Series III gearbox would do the job. Is it a feasable solution?
