Im thinking of cuting the middle strip out and fitting a single piece of glass.Does ant one have a clue as to where i would get the glass.Has anyone done this ??

Find a local glazier take them the measurements (width / hight / thickness) and ask for it as laminate glass. Jobs a gud un. Why do you want to get rid of the series look tho?

I know I know i shouldn't but i feel restricted on vision Think it would feel more open.I'm not one of these bolt a defender front end on types. If i do Regret it iv'e got a spare windscreen.

Don't tell me you've done it ! Well each to their own

yes i have done it, and as you ay, each to their own. personally i cant see how fitting a screen without the centre pillar will improve your forward vision, but thats your bag so go with it. just remember owning a landrover is an individuality thing, make yours what you want, not what every other prick conforms to

I'm guessing to make full use of all that extra vision you would have to alter your wipers or add another one or something.

i have a friend who is a glazier and due to pressure from the likes of anglian windows wants to break into vehicle glazing and is willing to take on any vehicle glazing as long as it is flat glass.he is highly experienced and will give a guarantee.pm me if you are interested.btw, because of financial problems he can only accept cash but will give a receipt.

oooh hes gunna be busy then

i do hope my friend will be busy as i offered him financial help!it's tough being a one man band as i found out when i had my own business.

We have a glass place in chichester called brewers and another called parhams..Both of them have produced toughened glass cut to size for a variety of applications for me, so I would suggest trying one of those and also calling someone like autoglass and seeing if they can help recommend a flat glass supplier.

Your other choice is perhaps to locate a windscreen from a larger vehicle that is flat fronted, some sort of van, and have it cut down, not sure if that woudl work but you would at least get one of the right material.

am my being silly here? what size is a defender screen? could yer not use the glass from a defender and have that cut down if needbe?

yup, you could, but like mr rice said, hes got one complete with frame but yer man cant be bothered fetchiong it, hey i know, seen as you are financially backing yer flat glass man, you could send him on the days that none of the vehicles that have flat glass need a new window, i think he may have a choice of available dates. ffs what is it with folk "ive got a great idea, seen as most vehicles now have curved glass, i'll set up a business specialising in flat glass"
