I want to change gearbox oil and rear diff oil in my 2006 td4 2.0 what oils do I need and how much for each
Also can I ask is it just the usual bottom Bung to drain and top Bung to fill In the diff , and is gearbox same system. Thanks.

Manual or auto?

Diff has a single plug used to drain and fill. So you will need a syringe. Or remove the whole back plate.

Gearbox is the normal 2 plug arrangement, for filling and draining. Just make sure you loosen the full plug first to avoid ending up with a dry gearbox.

Plenty of threads on here cover the oil types and quantities.

Gearbox oil is MTF94, around 2 Ltrs.
Rear diff oil is 80w90 gear oil, around 0.6 Ltrs.
As to the other question. You drain the rear diff by removing the rear plate and fill it through the filler hole up the rear plate.

You'd struggle to fill a diff from a drain on the bottom and drain it from the halfway up. ;)

Thank you , I think I said drain from bottom Bung. Lol.

The MTF94 should have a pull out nozzle for filling. Find a clear hose the right size to jam over the nozzle around 1.5 foot long and you can hold the bottle high in the wheel arch and squeeze the oil into the fill hole. The most awkward bit is loosening the fill plug as it is an Allan key (8mm I think). Make sure you have Allans for your socket set.

Thanks ,,,????what's IRD.

ok thanks. Is it a case of oil change in it , bottom and top bung or does it need plate removed. Also you know what fluid and how much.
Thanks.
The IRD is the FL1's transfer box. All the drives go onto and out of it.
Top plug (I don't call them bungs) first. Then once the top plug is removed. Remove the bottom plug and drain out the oil. Look at the condition of the oil, to give an indication of the condition of the IRD. If it's grey and metallic looking, then the IRD is shot.

Don't think it's shot as wee car is driving perfect
90000 MLS with 1 owner and 9 main dealer services. So prob need to check with main dealer if they have this done.

Driving a FL1 with one tyre low on pressure can destroy the IRD very quickly. So it's always worth checking the condition of the IRD oil when it's drained. ;)

Just be careful what oil you put in where and ensure you sort your gear box and IRD fill and drain plugs apart. As mentioned remove your fill plugs first on when tackling the gearbox and IRD as some spanner monkey may have been there before and ruined them, making it impossible to get them off. You won't be able to refill them if you find the fill plugs are destroyed. Ensure you don't over tighten them when replacing, especially the IRD. As Nodge mentions above check your tyre pressures regularly and best practice is tyres with more tread O the re than front. Mixed tyres(as in brands and profiles) will eventually damage/detroy the IRD/VCU/Diff....
