pretty loud matey. But, the noise it part of the charm. If im greenlaning, I wont have music on, I wont to hear the sound of my engine. But, when on dual carriage ways, you need it fairly loud. I started a job driving 100 miles aday when I first got the defender, which had the orig. stereo in, with a crapy radio that couldn't pull the reception. A cd player with a couple of extra speakers in the back was the first thing on my list to buy, lets put it that way!

I had same dilema 9 months ago and did not know what to buy. 2.5tdi, 200, 300 or whatever. My view having just gone through it, is think about what you want longer term. I thought short term and bought a cheapo and have therefore now just bought a newer one to use for expeditions as well as off roading. So, look long term and consider the versitility of the truck you buy. Tray top looks great, as mentioned, but is pants beyond that. Could go on for ever but for £6k, I would be looking for pucker, chassis, bulkhead, crossmember and no dodgy smoke from exhaust at start up. Ebay is great but test drive and view with someone with experience or you will pick up a dog, gook luck

check out ebay i got my defender 300 tdi 90 ex ambulance for £3100 it needed a new crossmember been doing that other christmas.

if not try autotrader:D

good service history right? are they set at the price they can sell them at tho? due to tax reasons and writing things off etc and might end up paying little more, or is that not so
