hi can anyone tell me if the steering on a 65 2a should have a mind of it's own.I've checked all the joints adjusted the steering box checked all oils &
even rotated the tyres nothing seems to make any difference it still goes where it wants to i'm on 750.16 avon rangemasters,swivels & joints are all tight new brake adjusters but i just can't solve the problem any ideas?

Have you checked for play in the relay and the box? Even with the box adjusted for minimum play if it's worn the steering will wander.

There is meant to be some free play in the steering, but I did find that on my truck when I had those avons on it did wander around a bit more, am on xzls now and whilst its not a modern car (you can't let go of the steering wheel and expect it to go in a straight line) its much better behaved than my series one

What tyre pressures are you running? That might make a difference

tyre pressures are 25 tried 30psi but it's still the same is a steering box overhaul practicle
can you still get the spares? this is an early box with the pinch bolt or can i fit a later one with no problems?sorry for all the questions but i just want to get out & dirty

Hi mate
I had the same prob as you with a series 3 ,it was the ralco bushes on the swivels,changed them and all good.
