when i get mine updated going to get an oem switch and put it in with my fog light and driving light panel

Don't forget that the switch with the 2a box is three position so you would lose one of the maps if you use an oem switch...

hiya

yeh i read that, was thinking of having it set up power in and max mpg out

will see what happens when i send mine back for the update

thks again

I have just fitted the Ronbox and Pierberg MAF.

I now want to fit the remote switch. I can't at the moment work out how to get the lead into the engine bay. Any ideas?

The Ronbox works great. So much more power and torque.

Top Tip.I stuggled for a couple of hours or more trying to feed the cable through the grommit for the bonnet release.I tried pulling and pushing and all manner of contraptions.
I then, out of desperation more than anything, pushed the grommit out into the engine bay,fed the cable through the now large hole, pushed cable through the grommit and refitted it.less than 5 minutes, job done.
But then I suppose everyone does it that way! and I was just being thick.

Thanks guys. I think I brought it with me on holiday, so I can have a go sometime over the next day or two.

I fitted it today. It was easy to push out the grommet and the feed the wire through and the surprisingly easy to refit the grommet.

The switch is mounted above the drivers glovebox lid, on the left, beside the steering wheel, where there is a little recess, just about perfect size for it.

It seems to work as the respective lights light up.

I haven't driven the car with it yet.

At the moment the box is on med/med setting no 7.

Having read and re-read the instructions, now I have the toggle 3 position switch in the car, I was wondering why shouldn't I have the rotary dial on the Ronbox set to 10?

It will only use that setting when I have the red power setting active.

you can set the ronbox to 10 if you want to,the rotary setting is the one you get when the switch is on red, green for eco1 and middle (no light) is eco2.
I also found that the instructions could be a bit clearer.
experiment with the rotary settings.Have you got an EGR bypass?if so,it would seem that you want settings 1 to 5,though someone else on here will be along to clarify/dispute this before too long I'm sure.
By the way, nice place for the swich.

No EGR bypass yet. It is on the list to buy/do.

I'm on holiday at the moment, relaxing, so great opportunity to clean the inside of the car as 7 years of grime everywhere plus the smells!!

Fitted the Ronbox today on my TD4. Very easy to fit. How did you guys get the dash switch cable through from the engine?

I discovered that my Turbo to EGR hose had a split that went last night.

Rather naughty fun putting foot down when a new Merc convertible with its top down was following me. Loads of smoke.
.

I replaced it and wow. The performance is great. It must have been leaking since I bought it.

The car has so much more torque than before. Amazing.

I have suspicions about the quality of the same hose in mine.Mainly because I'm sure that sometimes it gets a little fumey in the cab.Though I can find no visible signs under the bonnet.I only suspect that hose as its the only thing I've touched, when I bypassed the egr.Could you smell it in the cab when it was leaking?

When it was bad I could smell it a little, but I had the front windows open, the sunroof and the rear window.

It was amusing the amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust. It was very slow up some of the steep hills around the Warlingham area.

I can't believe the urge it has now compared to what it was like when I collected it 2 weeks ago.

Fitted RonBox 2a this morning into my TD4 (with switch and new MAF).

Bl**dy hell what a difference.

Just another little tip for routing the switch cable into the engine bay. From the engine bay, looking at the break servo. To the left there is a blanking grommet which appears internally just above of the throttle pedal (behind the foam). Using a 'willing volunteer' i.e. the missus. We managed to route the cable through, ('er indoors was in some rather interesting positions, rather reminiscent of years gone by, but that's another story).
Hole in grommet, routed cables along the bulkhead to the Raving RonBox! Job Done!
