Am I missing something here?
I can’t seem to get the waist seal to sit properly. Doesn’t look anything like the one on the passenger door...

There's no lip, have you re-skinned the door?

No this is how I got it. So I’m clueless.

If you look at the door skin, as it folds, behind that is a steel section front to back, made of two pieces spot welded together. Pull the skin away slightly you will see the steel sections turns out towards you about 10/12mm down. The fold on the skin should sit on this with the steel sticking out upwards 10mm or so, for your seal to clip onto.
