Hi,
I've recently purchased a 3.9L V8 Range Rover Classic '93 and i'm looking to set it up for off roading. I would greatly appreciate some advice on locating the axle breathers that need extending and info on any other breathers etc that I may need to extend.

If u r for real then the guys on here know wot u wanna know. Unfortunately I have never owned a RR so cant help. If ur a windie then................

:welcome2::search: this has been answered many times.

V8's can swim but you need to prepare them properly or you will end up stopped with water pouring in through the door seals.

I got a set of axle, gear box breathers and wading bungs off ebay bout 40 notes search on there and youll find em or do a search on here and youll find out how to make your own. Wading can be done in a v8 classic(ive done it in mine nuff times), but like classic kev sez you do need to do some prep work. Ive not prepped my motor for water as much as he has so i tend to steer clear now days, learned the hard way but it is doable. If you do buy a kit off ebay dont bother fitting the gear box breather unless you get a snorkel cos it terminates in the engine bay any way, if waters that high your goona struggle in a v8.:welcome2:

A snorkel and extended breathers are on the list of things to do first. I'm also a bit worried about the electrics, apart from the obvious stuff like the dizzy what else should I look at sealing/waterproofing? Any serious problem areas?

Coil, ABS ECU, EFI ECU, make sure your ignition leads are A1 and fit tightly, a splash guard for the dizzy helps, electric cooling fans are an advantage. Make sure your door seals are in reasonable order.

It mostly depends how deep you want to go, I've had mine in up to the door handles, there's a good video of it courtesy of my good mate Ryder.

Great video, exactly the type of fun i've got planned for my RR.
 
if you really wanna play in water get a dezul, the v8 is great for torque so hills mud and towing all right up its alley, water not so much so.
 
I would rather forget the really deep water and stick with the V8, love it! I had my first off road experience last weekend at Salisbury plain and limited myself to the shallow water because the RR was standard apart from a set of insa turbo tyres. Great fun!
