Having just crawled out of the side window of a Merc ML into FREEZING water to get to dry land we noticed the air intakes on the Merc are either side of the radiator, facing forwards (admittedly towards the top). That got me thinking about the air intake on my tdv8 L322. Looks like it takes air from the nearside wheelarch which I guess is relatively safe and in some ways acts like a diving bell (keeping the air trapped in the arch). Thus I expect my Land Rover (Although it says Range Rover I still consider it a proper land rover)will wade better than the Merc. So ..... is my assumption true and is there anything else to worry about, eg electrics low down, breathers etc. I ask as I'm referring to a ford near home and this experience has shaken me somewhat in that am I lucky or likely to make a expensive mistake?? the ford is 10 yards across so normally a quick in/out.
Thanks in advance. Oh and hello to the landyzone community....
