My wifes EGR valve on her car has been blocked off for over a year without any issues at all (Touch wood) the inlet is stIll clean which it wasnt before i blocked the EGR.

I know its for better emmisions and the enviroment and all that but if the good ol US of A wont sign a treaty to reduce its emmisions, her Freelander isnt going to make much difference is it.

The last paragraph is to cover me when any tree huggers come on and moan.

OK I know I am taking a bit of a 'tree-huggy' stance on this but the fact that the USA isn't doing **** to help the environment does NOT mean that this is a good thing and that we should follow suit.

As for the EGR system being environmentally friendly??? Hmmm let's just think about this. With the EGR disabled there is a discernable difference in fuel economy and performance - surely this means a lighter right foot - logic would say that this would mean better MPG. Better MPG means less emmissions!! SAVE THE PLANET - detach your EGR!!!

Ah! - so THATS wot it is all about!! the reason my Hippoo keeps breaking down aint cos its crap design and badly built - it's just that as its off the road for 4 months of the year, it is saving on emissions! I woz rite - is a DESIGN BENEFIT! lol ;) :D

Well that confirms it then ,most think its a good thing ,so were can i get this ball bearing thing from?:D

They're advertised on flea-bay, search for 'freelander black smoke' there's one listed at present, item no 300035901926 refers. Costs £2.99, free postage [so obviously not a genuine LR part...

I've no connection to the seller btw.

No worries, just back from the garage servicing the Smart car, then washing it. Course I had to empty the kitchen sink before I could put the car in...
Perhaps someone on the forum already has the instructions for where the ball-bearing fits - should save us lots of collective £2.99s...

Dont use the ball bearing, how will you get it out if you ever want too ? Take the pipe off and block it with a screw and away you go.

By the way is the ball bearing on Flea Bay Gold ? £2.99 is a joke.
