They are very popular down my local estuary where they are used for boat anchors.

But on a more serious not the marine trade use them a lot as they are originally boat engines, may be worth exploring that avenue if you want to keep it original.

They were designed originally I believe as stationary engines for generators, pumps etc. I'm told in that capacity, they were extremely good. They just weren't designed for cars. Jeep also used them in their Cherokees up to about 1999/2000 so that may be a decent source. What the differences will be though I've no idea.

My mate got a 2.5vm out of rover 825 in his workshop would that fit if changed sump ect?
