Hi Guys,

I'm heading down to Tiverton for the weekend and was wondering if anyone could recommend any easy lanes to try?

I've been trying to find the definitive RoW map but either there isn't a proper one or Devon County Council think off roading is illegal as they don't mention drivable routes on any of the maps I've found!

Any suggestions or resources would be gratefully received.

Buy an 1:25 OS map ! If there ain't any marked routes on there, they there aren't any to drive.

Most councils don't put the DEF map online. You'll have to go to the offices to view it.

one problem with maps is you dont know weather the drives are open or shut and sometimes dont tally up with wots in front of you so becareful !!!!!

Cheers all.

Should be getting a map this morning, but as mentioned that doesn't tell me which are open or even which routes vehicles are allowed on.

I assumed all councils would be as good as Hampshire - their online RoW map is excellent (although it could do with having a bigger window) and is apaprently definitive.

Oh well, I'll just have to see if I can find anything that looks legitimate when I get there.

Seriously - you didn't just say that, right ?
Find the number of the local Council, ask for the ROW or Byways office. ASK them if they have any active TRO's in the area. Or, If your able, then give them a grid ref of the intended lanes.

You can't just bloody go tramping ahead and driving lanes with that attitude. Research and navigation are a fundamental part of good off road driving.
just accept it - If there aren't any on a DEF map, and none on a CURRENT OS map, then there aren't any !

I've looked around, there are some graded Boats and about 2 Rupps at 1st glance - quite a way down from tiverton though.

Yes you're completely right. Don't worry!

Haven't had time to do anything in the end anyway so it's all moot anyway. More research in advance next time methinks!
