Hi, Ive just joined landy zone as im very interested in buying my first landrover. I quite fancy a defender 90 but know very little about them, i would need to tow a horse box occasionally and would need to go off road to collect fire wood for the home fire. Hopefully i will be able to get a bit more involved with off roading and green laning in the future. I havent got a huge budget but im very practical and can fix most things. Please can anyone offer advice for the first time landy owner?

yeah avoid V8's check for rust on chassis and bulkhead and start saving.. Defenders are a bit pricy.. Try EBAY or autotrader to see what's what..

Search the site loads of info.loads of **** out there and ringers.Spend time and dont rush into buying one.Welcome forgot to say it will be a love hate relationship owning one.

Hi Rich,

Welcome and great to see another Gloucestershire based landy fan.

I have a great friend who has been a mechanic for 25 years and is nearing completion of his 90 which he's planning on selling.

It's a complete nut and bolt rebuild and is IMMACULATE, engine overhauled and completely rebuilt, full 2 pack respray inside and out, new windows, doors, sunroof, bumbers, mirrors, seats, carpets, mud console, tyres, painted steel rims...... the list goes on.

He only wants £7500 for it, personally I think it's real value would be nearer 12 K if it was on an 06 plate !

By the way it's a 200tdi ! I would have snapped it up but I need a 110 for work and the extra legroom.

All the best with your search,

Rich
