Why don't you check with Land Rover Heritage at Gaydon ? For a reasonable fee they will be able to tell you what the spec of the vehicle was when it was built, and serial numbers of all the major units. If the Vin number stamped on the chassis looks as if it's not been tampered with and it matches the Vin on the V5, then I would say the number has been stamped wrong on the Vin plate by Land Rover. Especially as only one digit is different. All being well..... with the details supplied by Heritage matching what's on the V5, you can remove the Vin plate and buy a blank from Ebay and get your correct Vin stamped onto it. You can even buy the plate with your Vin stamped on for..... a bit pricey around £50 but stamped properly and saves you making a mess of the blank and saves you buying the number and letter stamps. Let me know how you get on.
I'm going to get right on this... I just hope they screwed up because this truck I'd immaculate.
