im sure itll break eventually (although i cant see any reason why other than its cheap) but itll probably do many thousands of rivets before it does!
They included a load of spare seals and stuff for it too.

For diy use it seems ideal
 
Today I did the final clean of the coolant system, ran water through it for about 1/2 hour until it ran perfectly clear. Then fresh coolant (red OAT).

Its lack of power is a bit odd, I tried unplugging the maf to see if that was it but it got considerably worse with that unplugged so I'm guessing that's ok. I'm waiting on the nanocom to arrive.
I did a check in the coolant for exhaust gases with the proper tester, no signs of them (which I'm guessing is a good sign!)

It takes some cranking to get it going first thing in the morning, a good ten seconds or so then it eventually sputters and fires up. Then itll run perfect all day. It might be theres an air leak in the fuel system? Any other thoughts anyone?
 
When its overheated do you think this could have cooked them? It was considerably faster and started on the button before this occurred.

Probably not
If its overhead badly then expect head damage in the near future as td5 isn't tolerant of overheating
 
actually I'm tempted to just drop this to a garage and get them to do it as itll be weeks before I have the time for dicking about with it. Any recommendations for an inde' to sort it for me within say 80 miles?

Just ordered a wiring harness for the injectors and air bleed valve for the fuel filter. Will fit these on friday and if this resolves the problems will cancel the injector seals.

Also making some brackets to fit one of our curved led light bars this weekend.

Want a nice roof rack for it now....
 
got hacked off with the battery terminal being loose last night, There was no way of clamping it onto the terminal which was a bit odd.

Anyhoo, i cut it off and put on a "proper" un. Its the simple things that make the difference!

Waiting on my nanocom to be delivered. Should come today apparently. Then I can get down to the business of sorting all its wee faults. Will be fitting new fuel filter, air bleed valve and injector loom tomorrow. Hopefully that will help the running issues.

Got to replace the rad hose as well, the oil that was in the coolant has really weaked it and then because of the corrosion thats attacked that pipe it attaches too it keeps getting damaged and im having to cut it back further and further every day as it keeps cutting through it. Ive ordered some proper mikalor clamps to replace the crummy "jubilee" type that someone has fitted which should stop the new one being cut and ill get the file out and remove any sharp bits off the pipe.
 
Nanocom arrived today just waiting on the unlock codes to be emailed to me. its kind of annoying as when you've paid alot of money out you expect to actually be able to use the chuffing thing

Code came through... eventually :p

Only the engine code is working though the abs one is defiantly remaining locked ill get on to bbs about it.

It's already diagnosed a faulty MAF though so I've one on order. I guess the nanocom will pay for itself fairly rapidly.

I changed the injector loom this morning and cleaned out the oil from the ecu. There wasn't loads but there was some.

The td5 started immediately afterwards, whereas I've been having to crank it for 10 secs or so for the past week. So I'm cancelling the injector seal replacement!

Idled notably smoother and just driving along it felt better.
 
The nanocom decided to start working fully after a couple of hours (weird!)

It's picked up the usual svs failure so ill do the mid to sort that.

Also picked up a pretensioner failure on the srs system drivers side. I expect a broken wire somewhere.

Fitted a new rad hose today, the old un was kaput from oil contamination. Getting the clip off the bottom hose was an utter bugger. You need to have the arms of a small fillipino shim to get in there! Did a final flush of the coolant with the hosepipe and the last few lumps of creamy oil came out. Topped up with 50% oat coolant.

Heater now puts out so much heat it gets far too hot in the cabin unless you turn it down. It was getting lukewarm before.
 
Maf turned up this morning (next day and it was only £25 delivered!) works perfectly now!

That's another job ticked off :)

I was messing about with the nanocom to see whats what, synced the odometer as it was flashing, and then suddenly it cut out and refused to restart. I was thinking id buggered something, but thankfully after 5 minutes of being left alone all was well again. Lesson learnt - don't feck about with the settings on the nanocom :) haha
