My Freelander makes a loud thrumming noise and vibration at 2000rpm especially in 5th gear. It has new tyres (balanced and aligned). New shock absorbers, new shock absorber (transmission) and new engine mounts.
Does anyone have an idea as to the cause and remedy?

Fooked and needs fixing....

Personnally would be lookinf at the tyres first....what type and tread have you fitted, was noise there before all work carried out???

i wud have sed it woz most likely the VCU damper - but i reckon thats wot yu mean by "shock absorber (transmission)"?

are the new tyres on the front or all round?.......

Definitely tyres if its thrumming Would say damper if it had been clonking....Thinks we need a full definition of all freelander noises...

Clonking frpm the middle =
Clanking from front =
Grinding from the back =
Squealing from the driver = Just got bill from stealer
etc etc etc

Burn it mine did the same and i never got it sorted after 6 months of trying

I had the same noise, thought it was the tyres, and then the transfer box got ripped off. Its in the process of being fixed, think it is stuck in difflock, or whatever you call it on freelander, think its to do with the vcu.

Check the brake pads and the brake capculiar (brake squeezy thingys). I had a simular problem to what you have written except it vibrated when I drive over 60mph.
