I am having problems with vibration at 2200rpm in all gears , but only after about 8 miles or more,at first it sounded like the front prop, but now i think it must be torque converter or something around that area, i have been through all the normal things like prop joints,bushes,exhuasts,diffs,loose things etc, had it in local landrover gararge ( DC Roberts Norfolk) for 2 days with no joy despite loads of phone calls and internet seaching between use, one of those noises that could make me more nuts than i already am. HELP!!!

I've had several TD5 autos and they all have vibration between 2200 & 2400rpm, to one degree or another. This can be a result of several things due to the inherent courseness of the 5 cylinder engine:

1. Main engine mounts worn;

2. Gearbox mounts worn;

3. Vibration damper detached from the transfer box;

It can also be due to the Torque Converter (TC) drive plate cracking, the flex plate on the end of the crankshaft crankshaft.

I did the gearbox mounts on my current TD5 and it did improves matters. The next step would be to replace the engine mounts.

Increasing numbers of owners are finding great advantage in changing the TC for the Ashcrofts modified one which gives smoother performance overall plus better integration of the engine and gearbox with much less 'slip' and revs spilling away without drive.

Had a noise/vibration prob on my TD5,turns out it was the accustic cover on the engine top ,drivers side bolt loose and cover vibrating with engine at certain revs.Sometimes luck gives an easy fix!
