Try having a look at all the ball joints, track rod ends, bushes and check the wheel bearings (maybe could do with a tweak). Mine did the same, it was the wheel bearings.

has just passed mot 2 weeks ago and has been doin it for a while now so i presume ball joints and stuff are fine will put new bearings in an see if that solves it cheers

There is lots of metal in the land rover steering system, so once it starts wobbling it just keeps on shaking.

Release the steering damper and remove both front drag link and rear track rod.

Jack the axle and feel for play in the wheel bearings or swivel hub bearings.

Feel for lots of play in the steering box.

Also squish the steering damper in and out, it should be very firm from the first movement. Any initial play, farting noises or ease of movement and it's pooped.

Hth, sam.

thanx guys all bushes and drag links and ball joints are fine so will take damper off 2moro an change that you lot are stars thanx again

Happened to me, only it was at about 64mph to the dot, turns out it was the pre load on the swivel hub.

Worked a treat after that.
