i had just gotten my first pay check and was on the way to get my land rover discovery 97 serviced,i found a letter on my windshield from euro motors over here telling me my model had a default in its fuel tank and they would replace it for free, PLUS give me a free oil and filter change.
after all that the car seems to b perfect with only one miserable problem,i know my wheels are fine but the vibrations or fluttering sounds only come when i accelerate.i havnt approached euro motors yet becuz i know its gonna finish out my paycheck(european cars are the most expensive to fix in bahrain)just wondered if anyone knew how i could solve this problem simply by some adjustments i could do myself?
i love my land rover inspite my dad begging me to get rid of it,to my past experiences of even driving mercedes 320se and land cruiser i still prefer the KING OF THE DESERT.

Go back to Euro motors and tell them of the problem. In the mean time did the garage remove your wheels and has now refitted an unballanced rear wheel back on the front ?

There is a recall for Disco 1's 1993 to 98 for inspection of the fuel tank for signs of a fuel leak or a possibility of cracks appearing and leaking fuel but Land Rover found out that it was not necessary for every fuel tank to be replaced, as with my disco.

very weird coincidence,i took it to them they said it had sumthing to do with the shaft rod ,i didnt quite understand but they told me it would cost quite a bit.
but anyways, some random on the street asked me if i needed some help as i was stuck minutes after leaving the garage,he pointed to the spark plugs and i saw sparks moving between the spark plug wire and the oil dip stick.
so all i did was changed the small wire. instead of spending 120 i spent 2.5
thanks for the advice anywayz because this is the only place i come for my car troubles.

Thanks. It's nice to know how problems have been resolved, Something else to check..

In the UK we have a product by Holts called Damp Start it's a spray lacquer for engine electrics, plug leads etc. it stoped my sparking leads on a damp morning.

Regards

i would love to know what kind of engine iol, gear oil and coolant to use in my car , especially for this hot climate?
and also when i first got my car it sounded really smooth now its got this rough v8 sound to it,which most people love in this country but i want my land rover to sound like how i first got it.

Whats the age is it and what engine is in the disco pal, i'll have a look on autodata for ya

all i know about my car is that its discovery 1997 v8i

For that engine in a hot climate they list a 20w/50 OR 15W/50 with a minimum spec of API SJ / ACEA A2-96, it should have the R380 gearbox in that apparently so either MTF gearbox oil or dextronIII atf oil, diffs 80w/90 and 90 in the transfer box. When you say rough v8 sound in what way is it rough pal?

it cheaper to nick the doris' hairspray. it the same stuff but with a funny smell.

Consider this, you may have had a propshaft UJ joint drying out and semi seized, if the lube job included greasing the props it may have freed it off but is now showing up some wear.
